ABOUT US

Gamma Phi Beta Sorority is an international social organization with more than 128 collegiate chapters in the United States and Canada. With nearly 200,000 collegiate members worldwide, we are one of the largest Panhellenic sororities and are still growing!

During a time when women were rarely given the opportunity to seek higher education, four friends at Syracuse University came together to form the first Greek-letter organization to be called a Sorority. They were imaginative, courageous risk-takers who cooperated unselfishly to form an organization that would embody their ideals, the same ideals Gamma Phi values today. Over 137 years later, sisters all over the world are proud to call Gamma Phi Beta their home.

Alpha Chi Chapter was installed at the College of William & Mary on January 14, 1933.
